The grass is always blue-er on the other side, or at least it is if you’re colour-blind, or if you happen to have Kentucky bluegrass beneath your feet. And while comparison may well be the thief of joy, that certainly didn’t stop Those Penny Pinchers from venturing into a new genre, despite all the perfectly good green grass our own country has to offer.
And what a result! With their debut album, An Ode To A Rounder, they certainly don’t waste any time. From the opening track, Song Bird, eight songs come charging at you in just twenty minutes. It’s wonderfully straightforward and refreshingly unpretentious, and with every listen, a new favourite seems to emerge. Come and check it out! | Robert
