This is Gonna be Great! TV-series screening & panel discussion

The new 10-part Dutch-German-Belgian comedy series This Is Gonna Be Great opens

with the romantic David (28), who cancels his lease in Amsterdam and moves to his

girlfriend in Berlin. However, she’s had enough of his lack of realism and immediately

breaks up with him.

David (Rein Mulder) doesn’t stop dreaming and decides to build a new life in the

challenging and sometimes downright strange German capital. He reaches out to his

Flemish friend Aisha (Abigail Abraham), finds a room with the eccentric Norwegian Rob

(Jonas Strand Gravli), and falls in love with the cynical German Hanna (Mona Vojacek

Koper). He looks for a job (preferable as an actor), tries to learn German and meets all

kinds of weird Berlin characters…

This Is Gonna Be Great was inspired by dramedies like Girls, Please Like Me and Broad

City and broader comedies like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Friends and New Girl. It contains

surreal elements and genre switches, much like Atlanta or the work of David Lynch.

The series was written by high school friends Rein Mulder and Rutger Lemm (partly

based on their own experiences of living in Berlin), who worked on it for eight years.

The series is now streamable in both the Netherlands and Germany (Belgium will follow

soon).

On this night, we will screen three episodes in a warm cinema setting. Afterwards, the

creators Rutger Lemm and Rein Mulder, as well as Lara Mikocki, Ronan Brosnan and

Nira Tal, three well-known comedians from the Amsterdam international comedy scene

(who also played small comedy roles in the series) will form a comedy panel to talk

about the weirdness and comedy of living abroad. Hosted by Mezrab veteran Fer Rodil.

The audience can also join the conversation of course.

Free entrance, but bring a good attitude!
