In ‘Huilen Onder Water’ gaan we samen door een duistere trip heen terwijl je hard gaat op de techno muziek op een groot huisfeest.

Op de koude badkamervloer van het huisfeest ligt een verliefde, maar angstige vrouw. Allerlei gedachten schieten door haar hoofd. En ze verlangt een ding het meeste: het meisje kunnen zijn van haar lieftallige vriendin Liddy.
Want de liefde die ze bij haar vindt is onbeschrijfelijk. Maar de ware liefde hebben gevonden is ook eng. Wat als haar geliefde haar verlaat? Wat als ze ontdekt dat zij niet de ware is? Wat als ze toch niet voor elkaar gemaakt zijn? Wat als de angst je volledig overneemt en de angst niet meer los kan zien van de realiteit?
Over Laura Nieuwenhuis
Laura Nieuwenhuis is een veelzijdige theatermaker die confronterend, muzikaal en beeldend werk maakt. Ze verkent de innerlijke strijd en donkere emoties vanuit een liefdevolle provocatie, en schudt het publiek wakker door hen te confronteren met het onbewuste en genegeerde gevoelens.
Thema’s als onrecht tegen vrouwen staan centraal in haar werk, zoals in ‘Mayday’ (over seksueel misbruik), ‘Women Are Complex’ (stereotypes over vrouwen), en ‘I Want to Now’ (seksuele verlangens en angsten). In haar afstudeervoorstelling ‘I Wish I Wasn’t Born at All’ toonde ze de ontkenning van rouw en verlies.
Met rauwe, muzikale en fysieke voorstellingen nodigt ze het publiek uit tot introspectie en acceptatie.

Crying Under Water
In “Crying Under Water,” we go through a dark trip together while going hard to the techno music at a big house party (Produced by Dorian Kreso).
On the cold bathroom floor of the house party lies a woman in love but anxious. All kinds of thoughts shoot through her mind. And she desires one thing the most: to be the girl for her lovely girlfriend Liddy.
Because the love she finds with her is indescribable. But having found true love is also scary. What if her lover leaves her? What if she discovers she is not the one? What if they are not made for each other after all?
What if the fear takes over you completely and you can't separate it from reality?
About Laura Nieuwenhuis
Laura Nieuwenhuis is a versatile theatre director who creates confrontational, musical and visual work. She explores inner struggles and dark emotions from a loving provocation, shaking up the audience by confronting them with the unconscious and ignored feelings. Themes of injustice against women are central to her work, as in “Mayday” (about sexual abuse), “Women Are Complex” (stereotypes about women), and “I Want to Now” (sexual desires and fears). In her graduation performance “I Wish I Wasn't Born at All,” she showed the denial of grief and loss.
With raw, musical and physical performances, she invites the audience to introspection and acceptance.
