Ratos de Porão is een invloedrijke Braziliaanse punkband, opgericht in 1981 in São Paulo door een groep vrienden rond de Punk Rock Discos-platenzaak. Vanuit de vroege Braziliaanse punkscene verwierf de band al snel bekendheid met optredens zoals het First Punk Festival of São Paulo in 1982. Ratos de Porão is an influential Brazilian punk band, founded in 1981 in São Paulo by a group of friends connected through the Punk Rock Discos record store. Emerging from the early Brazilian punk scene, the band quickly gained recognition with performances such as the First Punk Festival of São Paulo in 1982. With the arrival of vocalist João Gordo in 1984, their sound evolved from raw punk into faster, more aggressive hardcore, later incorporating elements of crossover metal. Their music is characterized by high tempos, sharp riffs, and a direct, confrontational approach. Recordings in Berlin and recognition in Europe contributed to their international profile. With an extensive discography and a tribute album in 1998, Ratos de Porão solidified their lasting influence within the punk and hardcore scene.
