Barns Courtney heeft meer turbulentie in de muziekindustrie doorstaan dan de meeste artiesten ooit meemaken: van verdwijnende A&R’s en verkochte catalogi tot jaren vastzitten in doodlopende contracten. Na vroege tegenslagen en jaren van DIY-werk brak hij door met ‘Glitter & Gold’, dat platina ging in de VS, en werd zijn stem wereldwijd herkend dankzij de film Burnt. Met meerdere Top 10-hits op alternative radio en een reputatie voor intense, onmisbare liveshows groeide hij uit tot een van de best bewaarde geheimen van de rockscene. Courtney’s muziek beweegt zich op het snijvlak van alternative rock, indie rock, folkpop en bluesrock: rauw en melodieus, met een sterke focus op zijn karakteristieke stem, gitaar en piano. Als singer-songwriter is hij actief sinds 2015. Nu, tien jaar later en eindelijk vrij op het indie-label Avenue A, bewijst hij dat muziek altijd zijn weg vindt, zelfs wanneer het systeem hapert.
