Jazz lovers, unite. Join us every Thursday for a free live jazz session in our lobby. Grab a drink, take a seat, and unwind from a hard day’s work during Jazz Thursdays at Werkplaats.
Each edition, we welcome fabulous jazz musicians. Whether it’s the renowned Amsterdam Jazz Trio (Jochem Braat on piano, Tijn Jans on drums, and Adrie Braat on double bass), intimate duos, or special guests ranging from saxophonists to jazz singers and vibraphonists – expect an evening filled with top-tier jazz.

The Amsterdam Jazz Trio consists of three talented and distinctive jazz musicians: pianist Jochem Braat, drummer Tijn Jans, and double bassist Adrie Braat. On this special evening, in celebration of Jochem’s birthday, the trio will welcome a host of special guests to join them on stage.
What brought them together is their shared love for the timeless music of the American Songbook and the artistic and musical freedom that a jazz piano trio offers. Within the Amsterdam Jazz Trio, their diverse musical backgrounds blend into a unique and captivating sound. Each member’s personal contribution gives the music its own character, while their close interplay creates a harmonious whole—like a single instrument with three voices.
The trio draws inspiration from the rich tradition of the “classic” jazz trio, shaped by legends such as Oscar Peterson, Wynton Kelly, and Bill Evans, as well as Dutch icons like Pim Jacobs and Louis van Dijk. In that same spirit, the Amsterdam Jazz Trio brings fresh and surprising interpretations to well-known jazz pieces. The trio honors the beautiful history of jazz while proving that this genre remains vibrantly alive in the 21st century.
