RHYTHMISM

Lucid Recordings presents RHYTHMISM, the club night.

Live analogue sets are the centrepiece of RHYTHMISM events.

It’s all about rich, deep, quality techno, breakbeats, electronica and electro performed live by artists from the label, plus friends, kindred spirits and other like-minded folk.

First live sets start at 22:00!

Live sets at RHYTHMISM at OT301 in March 2024.

Lucid Recordings

All the producers playing live at RHYTHMISM have been releasing tracks on Lucid Recordings since the 1990s. The label grew out of DJ Steve Green’s Lucid Interval night at the legendary Mazzo in Amsterdam. In the mid-90s it was a boundary-pushing place-to-be with an open-minded dancefloor pumping to a mad mix of breakbeats, techno, abstract electronica and dub.

The music we released stood the test of time, and renewed interest helped bring the label back to life in 2019.

Besides putting on the RHYTHMISM nights we’re releasing lots of new, remixed, live and archive tracks on vinyl and digital.

Live line-up
x(eptional

Totally distinctive and wildly addictive breakbeat-based sound – with a jazzed-up dub vibe. Ever evolving, shifting universes of breakbeats, melodies, jabs and swells.

The two Wouters (Snoei and Kalkhoven) go way back. After being friends at primary school, in 1995 they joined forces to form x(eptional.

Sjuul [Morphid]

Detroit-infused electro-techno with a unique lowlands feel. First inspired in the 90s by FSOL’s Accelerator blasting from his Walkman as he biked home from local raves, passing the post-war industrial monoliths looming over the flat, moonlit landscape of North Holland.

Sjuul is the solo project of producer Jacco Rens, half of Lucid Recordings label-mate Morphid, along with Jan Schermer aka DJ Jan:us.

Zero.dB

Warm and intricate dancefloor electro, breakbeat, electronica and full-on techno – full of funk, full of rhythm. Moody, trancey, warm – and always drawing on that Detroit thing: that feeling of groove infused with nostalgia and hopeful realism … optimism.

Zero.dB is producer Nick Berjoan: made in France, forged in Spain, finalised in the Netherlands.

David Caron

Delicate and driving rhythms with a generous dose of tech-funk and a jazz twist – sparse and light-footed grooves that pull you in every time.

David Caron’s back catalogue spans the legendary labels Eevolute, Mo Wax and Music for Speakers. He also played live multiple times at Steve Green’s original Lucid nights – solo and with his excellently named band Relaxo Abstracto.

DJ line-up
DJ Steve Green (Lucid Interval + Lucid Recordings)

Blending adventurous electric music for the maximum mood and funk, mixing it up with breakbeats, electro and abstract techno on a dub tip.

Steve heads Lucid Recordings and hosted the original Lucid Interval club in the 90s at the legendary Mazzo in Amsterdam.

Soundcloud [DJ set]

DJ Jan:us [Morphid]

Expect a heady and eclectic full-on dancefloor mix of angular techno and electro with the accent of the offbeat and the uncanny vibe.

Jan:us is producer Jan Schermer, half of Lucid stalwarts Morphid, who created the ultra-collectible classics Mephisto and First Visit.

DJ XStreamer

Mad wicked glitch + colour bass rhythms for dancefloor craziness.

DJ Streamer also produces, composes and releases music under lots of identities … for Lucid Recordings as Vitamen, and for Quaint, KidNap and more.
