Oorsoep: Hot In Da Club Suijd Achea

Hot In Da Club

Few artists capture the feverish energy of the dancefloor quite like Hot in Da Club. The trio brings together three of the most inventive minds in modern club music: beat scientists Spooky-J and pq, best known for their percussive innovations as part of UK via Uganda crew Nihiloxica (Nyege Nyege / Crammed Discs) along with fellow polyrhythm proselytiser Ekhe (Blip Discs / Hakuna Kulala). Together as a unit, the group’s blistering rhythm workouts stay true to their name – visceral, humid body musics that arc, curve and sweat like the bodies of the dancers they animate. Tracks are not just made for the club, but often in the club – sketched out in the dance and coaxed into their bestial final forms in the studio.

Suijd

Suijd is the dancefloor-focussed alias of Joris van Suijdam. In its turn Joris van Suijdam is the state-registered alias of a creature whose name can only be expressed through sound waves simultaneously above and below the human hearing range. Once thought to be imaginary, his existence is now proven with relatively simple synthesizer based experiments (when you do nice bleeps and bloops, he says ‘very cool’ and bounces a bit). Now he has worn clothes, ate food, did studies and jobs, and crafted many excellent compositions and collages of experimental music in a league entirely of their own. As Suijd, he performs live with various bits of kit and aims his music directly at the crowds’ neurons and posteriors. Prepare to be wiggled intensely at 180+ bpm with out-of-this-world yet more than human wobbly noisey gloopy goodness.

Achea

Achea weaves a sonic tapestry of noise, leading listeners on an imaginative journey through the eerie and unknown. Drawing from their shared experiences of friendship, dreams, and resistance, they craft an improvisational soundscape that echoes the tumultuous harmony of their own relationship, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in the emotional depth and introspection that unfolds.
