In her photographic project Anna Theunissen investigates the ambiguity that springs up when strangers run into each other on the street: the moment of noticing one another can establish a connection, but it can also dissolve just as quickly. Theunissen’s work shows how each person in the city takes part in a carousel of encounters—where they meet, bid farewell, return home, and begin anew the following day.
