Vanita Monk’s 80th birthday party!
An evening-long celebration of the life, art, words, music and vision of Vanita Monk (1944-2024). Featuring most of the artists who collaborated with Vanita in the last decade of her life.
Live music composed and conducted by Johanna Monk, Friso van Wijck and Gonçalo Almeida. Simultaneously performed by Bruno Ferro Xavier da Silva, Mariette Groot, Lucija Gregov, Philipp Ernsting, Josuè Amador, Bert den Hoed, Jorrit Westerhof, Linda Nijboer, Margje Ottevanger, Nina Hitz and Robert Kroos.
With the performance by Florian Cramer, dramatic readings of Vanita’s stories, ongoing visuals of Vanita’s artworks, and special remote contributions by Suzana Lașcu and Geo Wyeth.
And finally, an album re-release of Vanita’s lost masterpiece “Wet Beast Breaking Through Ice.”

And what am I when I’m alone? When death stands before me and asks what I wish to bring along? I hold up my name and my applause and death laughs.”
Vanita is one of the people who made WORM the independent and free thinking place it is today.

Een avondvullende viering van het leven, de kunst, de woorden, muziek en visie van Vanita Monk (1944-2024). Bijna alle artiesten die in het afgelopen decennium met Vanita hebben samengewerkt doen mee.
Live muziek gecomponeerd en gedirigeerd door Johanna Monk, Friso van Wijck en Gonçalo Almeida. Collectief uitgevoerd door Bruno Ferro Xavier da Silva, Mariëtte Groot, Lucija Gregov, Philipp Ernsting, Josuè Amador, Bert den Hoed, Jorrit Westerhof, Linda Nijboer, Margje Ottevanger, Nina Hitz en Robert Kroos.
Ook treedt op Florian Cramer, met een dramatische voordracht van Vanita’s verhalen, en er zijn doorlopend projecties van Vanita’s kunstwerken, plus speciale bijdragen op afstand van Suzana Lașcu en Geo Wyeth.
En tenslotte, een album re-release van Vanita’s verloren gewaande meesterwerk “Wet Beast Breaking Through Ice.”
