On Thursday December 19th RADION invites PEMBE for a screening of Lebanese filmmaker Sarah Francis' poetic and experimental debut film Birds of September. A glass van drives through the city of Beirut, inviting its citizens in for their stories, confessions, and expressions: what do they feel and think of, what does the city reflect back to them? The evening will start with poetry & spoken word performances, for which PEMBE will launch an open call. After the screening we'll put on tunes from Lebanon and make room for a communal aftertalk. PEMBE is a 'film club for the 99%' hosted by a collective of BIPOC film lovers. Their events combine cinema with drag, poetry, sonic sessions, community kitchens, and fundraisers.
