Dit ben ik. This is me.

Pranay moved to Amsterdam 3 years ago.
As many immigrants before him brought his dreams too.
But last year he has celebrated his 40th birthday.
Maybe it's already too late to make dreams come true...
Maybe "horeca forever" is the only thing that has left...
After Amsterdam’s shows in Astharoteatro, OT301, Theater Bellevue,
one in Second Zone Theatre in Warsaw and cancelled one in Theater de Richel,
this performance in Plein Theater will be a grand finissage,
in which Pranay will combine all unrealized ideas for this theatre creation
to ditch it forever!
In the New Year’s Ritual he will enchant with audience the coming months
to bring everyone new vital energy, prosperity, happiness and love.

Dit ben ik. This is me
"Dit ben ik. This is me" is a theatrical reflection on Pranay's life:
childhood in a small town, studies at National Academy of Theatre Arts,
work in Polish theatre and life after 40 in The Netherlands.
Performance deals with issues of identity, being an immigrant, gay and artist;
but also is a mocking manual on how to make a successful contemporary theatre piece.
Pranay's cynical monologue drifts between storytelling, stand-up and ritual
with elements of puppet theatre and concert.

Reactions on the performance

“Dit ben ik” is one of a kind show that will never leave my memory.
It combines youth, history, dreams and drama in a way never seen before.
A truly “one of a kind” experience.”
Ahmad Rabieh, Preacher

“It’s like a rollercoaster. Dynamic, told with humour.
Beautifully written, brilliantly played.”
TeatrVaria

“In his very own, unique and one of a kind way, theatermaker Pranay tells the story of his life. From the Polish town where it all began to the city of Amsterdam where he finds himself at forty, and all big and small events of life that happened in between. He transformed his life into a dazzling show; fun, full of surprises, twists and turns. Pranay shows us his art in a rich variety of topics and a mix of theatrical techniques, effortlessly jumping from handmade visual props and decor to live music, from video to a sketch in interesting costume, and from a funny anecdote to sensitive, beautifully delivered songs. It is a wonderful spectacle, entertaining and different, certainly something to go see and experience yourself.”
Iris Brouwers, text writer, language teacher

“Dit ben ik was an experience for the senses. My partner and I greatly enjoyed the experience, traversing the life, questions and difficulties many people experience around work, moving countries and religion.”
Luke Fairhead
