How do we shape our digital identities? Togehter with conceptual artist Constant Dullaart we discuss his work, big tech and the possibilities of an alternative digital world.
How do we shape our digital identities? Togehter with conceptual artist Constant Dullaart we discuss his work, big tech and the possibilities of an alternative digital world.
In his work Constant Dullaart emphasizes the frictions between old and new, manual and automated, offline and online, real and not. Dullaart deconstructs and analyzes the specific human circumstances under which technological instruments are created, and how this influences the way the instruments are consequently used.
The evening will also comprise of a tour of distant.gallery, a (non-profit) foundation and online platform founded and co-run by Constant, where people can come together informally, and meet online. It is constructed in such a way that it respects users’ data, does not store or resell it, and does not play visitors off against each other through likes and algorithms.
With distant.gallery Constant explores the ways in which the digital realm can shorten the distance to an international artistic discourse, not just reserved for those with the opportunity to jetset from biennale to fair.
