Alberta Balsam

Alberta Balsam's love for science-fiction permeates throughout everything she does. Her live performances flex immeasurable skill as a tech-savvy producer able to construct danceable, yet simultaneously lush and expansive interludes

Classic drum machines are layered over intricate harmonies and 303 bass lines, programmed through drum machines and analogue synthesizers. The results are rooted in early experiments with machine-made music but also a journey across time and space, tuning into the frequencies of cybernetic entities arriving from the future.

As a DJ, Alberta's sets incorporate a signature blend of leftfield techno, electro, IDM, broken beats and breaks, pivoting between off-the-wall experimentation and bold, slicing beats. Having trained as an epidemiologist, the theme of care reverberates through her music. Crucially she regards dance as medicine – a primordial remedy to sustain our interconnected existence.

VOLPEVOLPE

The Utrecht-based VOLPEVOLPE (Sabine) is an upcoming DJ of her own kind and someone to keep your eyes on. She is known for her gritty electro beats, spacey synths and snappy acid tunes combined with some haunting dark Wave elements. She aims to find the perfect crossover between her love for analogue electronic music from the Westcoast scene and her indie & wave fascination coming from her teenage years. So, eyes up in space with the feet on the frightening, industrial warehouses.

In the meantime, she played at the notorious Intergalactic FM Festival and parties such as Machine Cult, Cornershop and Wavecrash. She loves some good nerd-talk and is willing to tell you all about her favorite producers and their EP’s during her “Inside The Vortex” shows at Operator Radio.

This girl seems a new and fresh face in the crowd, however, she has been collecting records and playing in her living room for many years but no one had a chance to hear it. Finally, she is out there to spread the wildfire and ready to live her dream.
