Raoul Steffani is een van de grootse zangtalenten van dit moment. Nadat hij de Elisabeth Evertsprijs 2016, de Dutch Classical Talent Publieksprijs 2018 en de Grachtenfestivalprijs 2018 won, nam zijn carrière een behoorlijk vlucht. Maar de echte bekroning kwam met de Nederlandse Muziekprijs, die hij in 2023 uitgereikt kreeg. Hij zong tijdens het Prinsengrachtconcert, dat live op televisie werd uitgezonden, stond in internationale operatheaters en in concertzalen met orkesten als het Concertgebouw Kamerorkest en en zingt ook als Liedzanger in de meest vooraanstaande zalen. Met mezzosopraan Magdalena Kožená nam hij een cd op met duetten van Robert Schumann. In 2021 nodigde Barbara Hannigan hem uit voor een concert en cd-opname met werken van Alban Berg.
Raoul Steffani wordt begeleid door meesterpianist Severin von Eckardstein, die we elk seizoen wel een keer in de Stadsgehoorzaal uitnodigen, vanwege zijn intelligente en poëtische interpretaties en ongehoord mooie spel.
Schubert Die Schöne Müllerin op. 25
Met Die Schöne Müllerin voltooien Raoul Steffani en Severin von Eckardstein een reeks van Schuberts Liederencycli in 2024 in de Stadsgehoorzaal die begon met Die Winterreise in maart en Schwanengesang in september door Thomas Oliemans.

Raoul Steffani is one of today’s great singing talents. After winning the Elisabeth Evertsprijs in 2016, both the Dutch Classical Talent Publieksprijs and the Grachtenfestivalprijs in 2018, his career took off. But the real crowning achievement came with the Dutch Music Prize, which he was awarded in 2023. Since then, he has performed at the famous Prinsengracht Concert in Amsterdam, which was broadcast live on television and sang in international opera theatres and in concert halls with orchestras such as the Concertgebouw Kamerorkest. Steffani can also be heard as a Liedzanger in the most distinguished halls. With mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená, he recorded a CD of duets by Robert Schumann. In 2021, Canadian soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan invited him for a concert and CD recording of works by Alban Berg.
During this concert, Raoul Steffani will be accompanied by master pianist Severin von Eckardstein, whom we invite to the Stadsgehoorzaal at least once every season, and is known for his intelligent and poetic interpretations and outrageously beautiful playing.
Schubert Die schöne Müllerin op. 25
With Die schöne Müllerin, Raoul Steffani and Severin von Eckardstein complete a 2024 series of Schubert’s Lieder cycles at the Stadsgehoorzaal which was precedented by Die Winterreise in March and Schwanengesang in September by Dutch baritone Thomas Oliemans.
